Kamala worked as a maid in my house as she was thrown out by her previous employer in Chandigarh. She helped her sister Vimla as a domestic help to keep herself engaged. However, her heart was still in Chandigarh where her employers gave her a pathetic life, but she still wanted to go back to that city. I often wondered why.

Vimla however wanted her sister to marry a boy who she had arranged for her in Rourkela, Odisha. Since Kamala had more than Rs10,000 as due payment with her previous employer, Vimla had decided to recover it and use it in Kamala's marriage.

Very soon the two sisters started having differences of opinion which boiled down to a Cold War. It was then that Kamala expressed her desire to go back to Chandigarh and search for a new job and settle down there. This was when I was dragged into their personal matters.
